Best known to Australians for the seminal sitcom The Young Ones, Alexei is back onstage for two exclusive performances for World’s Funniest Island presenting comic readings from  his novels and “An Audience With” performance hosted by Julian Morrow.

Alexei has starred in 24 television series and now is equally well known for his writing.  His eighth book ‘Mr Roberts’ was published last year.

Chris Franklin (Aust)

Chris is The Bloke, from his flannelette shirt to his double plugger thongs. His "Hoganesque" style of comedy touches on the delicate issues of beer, sport and relationships. A navy chef, he was one of seven chosen to cook for the Queen during her visit to Australia in the 80's. Chris then decided the Navy wasn't for him and took ten years off to circumnavigate Australia by car.

Chris started performing comedy in October ’97 and in just six months had won the prestigious Triple J Raw Comedy Award.

Julian Morrow (Aust)

Julian faked his own birth in 1974. After several failed attempts at childhood, he began a series of convincing attempts at adulthood.

Morrow’s work with The Chaser was arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the 1990s after he faked a terminal illness. According to confidential medical reports, he has now spent ten years in remission from ovarian cancer.

Radio Cockatoo with Helen Simons (Aust)

Helen Simons DJ abilities were discovered way back in West Berlin by the Burdenski brothers who were about to open their new nightclub the Ciro Beach Club.  Helen was their first female DJ.  Twelve months later she landed the DJ gig at the Top Hat Club in London.

Helen’s compilations and play lists are selected from jazz, swing and blues scenes, Queens of New Orleans, Cajun, soul, gospel, Latin, manouche and gypsy Balkan beats.
